We are establishing a leading business to develop products that will spearhead the transition to carbon negative building materials of the future. This is done by developing, producing, and commercialising the next generation of carbon negative, plant-based building materials for the construction sector. Adaptavate have developed BreathaBoard as a sustainable, low carbon alternative to standard plasterboard. By delivering this innovation through our pilot line, we will catalyse genuine environmental change to the UK and beyond, at a time when the planet needs it most. 

We are expanding our team and need a Cement Chemist, to lead and optimise our accelerated carbonation process technology whilst supporting the team with continuous formulation optimisation.  We can’t wait for you to join us. 

Our Cement Chemist will;

    • Lead on the scale up and development of our patent pending accelerated carbonation process technology

    • Optimise the formulation for our products, both boards and plasters, to improve product performance whilst reducing their embodied carbon and economic cost

    • Support the existing team in developing the next generation of game changing carbon neutral products

    • Inform and advise pilot scale production on quality assurance

    • Advise on the technical strategy for global licensing of the company’s technologies

We would also be interested to understand if you have experience in the following areas;

    • Direct experience of carbon capture or mineralisation

    • Experience of optimising mortars with correct admixtures

    • PhD in relevant field, cement chemistry or carbon capture

    • MSc plus 3+ years in a relevant industry

    • Track record of leading independent R&D in applied setting

    • Experience of working in a scale up

    • Exposure to solid gas adsorption

    • Chemical Engineering background within the building materials industry

    • Patent writing

    • Grant proposal writing and management 

    • Project management
