Who are we?
Adaptavate is a business of the future, a dynamic team of engineers, thinkers, parents, walkers, traders, dreamers, climbers, scientists, gardeners, friends, family and visionaries. People who think differently to make a big impact through our work… together.
We are answering the urgent call to decarbonise construction globally, by developing the low carbon and carbon-negative technologies and products needed, and the industrial ecosystem to deploy them fast, anywhere in the world.
To succeed in our mission, we are looking for a Research Scientist to help shape our most impactful technology to date, our carbon negative wallboard.
Your role
Our vision is to work alongside the industry to drive meaningful, global change. Delivering this vision requires deep technical expertise, as we continue to develop and refine our core technology for real-world application.
We are recruiting for a Research Scientist, reporting to our Head of Product Development, to work as part of our established product development team at our facility in North Bristol. This role provides an opportunity not only to shape our products but to contribute to the broader growth of our team, processes and capability. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for someone who wants to help shape both our products and the growth of our purpose-driven team.
The key activities for this role are;
Developing our core technology for deployment on existing plasterboard processes
Working with our team to develop product formulations that are compliant with global standards, cutting carbon emissions within our industry.
Establishing analytical chemistry processes and capabilities
Your responsibilities
Working in our Lab:
Work with our lab team to enhance our analytical chemistry foundation.
To plan and deliver test campaigns.
Working in the bridge between Research and Development, applying lean DoE methodologies to deliver results rapidly.
Working with data:
Our data is our key asset. Accurate acquisition of data is a core competency.
Creating new test procedures to answer new questions. From our data sets we expect as many questions as answers
Interrogating the data sets alongside real-life observations.
Working with our team:
We are looking for people with strong technical expertise, who can work independently whilst collaborating closely with the wider team
Test campaigns require collaboration, internally and externally. You will see projects through to completion.
What you’ll bring
Experience of working in plasterboard or gypsum-based products.
Formulation insight into building products for product optimisation.
A background in quality or chemistry, and experience of working in labs, we value both industry knowledge and academia.
A proactive, detailed and outcomes-driven approach, with the ability to work comfortably across desk-based analysis, external testing environments and hands-on laboratory development to deliver practical outcomes.
What do you get in return?
As our next Adaptavator, you will build on your existing strengths through a blend of mentorship, hands-on development and collaboration with external partners. You will have the opportunity to work on, and help lead, genuinely groundbreaking technology with the potential to transform the construction industry.
At Adaptavate, our impact comes from the people behind the technology. We are committed to creating a collaborative, supportive and respectful environment where individuals are trusted to grow, contribute and thrive
We are an ambitious team with bold ideas, strong beliefs and a shared drive to create meaningful change. For those who are curious, proactive and willing to push themselves, there is real opportunity to grow alongside the business as we continue to lead carbon change in construction.
