Equipment required
Breathaplasta Universal
Clean water and brush or mister
Hawk, trowel and plastering tools
Fibreglass mesh
Recommended plaster thickness
8mm total thickness (2 x 4mm coats)
Coverage per 18kg Universal bag
Approx. 5 square metres at 4mm thickness
Setting time per coat
Approximately 45-60 minutes
Surface preparation
Brush the surface of the wood fibre boards with clean water prior to plaster application to control suction.
Apply a fibreglass render mesh of approx. 5mm x 5mm into the base coat before it sets. Ensure the mesh is fully encapsulated within the base coat. Mesh should overlap by 100mm at all joints.
Recommended plaster application
- Mix Universal to approx. 8 litres of cool, clean water per 18kg bag of dry powder used.
- Mix the plaster using a paddle mix for at least 2 mins. Leave the mix to stand for 2 mins, then mix again for 1 min.
- Base coat of Universal at 4mm (sufficient to cover washers/fixings).
- Fibreglass render mesh applied to base coat while it's still fresh - flatten in using trowel immediately after applying plaster.
- Top coat of Universal at 4mm.
- For a smooth finish with Universal, moisten top coat using a fine mist spray bottle to help trowel to a smooth finish. Optionally, achieve an even smoother finish by applying a 2mm skim coat of Smooth.
