Breathaplasta Universal can be applied directly to brick, block and stone and is compatible with all masonry types. Universal is a fast-setting, multi-purpose, hemp-lime plaster designed for rapid build-up onto a wide range of backgrounds.

Equipment required

Recommended plaster thickness

Each coat should be up to 10 mm thick.
Up to 20mm max per day.
Up to 50mm max total thickness.

Approx. 5 square metres at 4mm thickness

Setting time per coat

Approx. 45-60 minutes.

Surface preparation

Consolidate the wall to ensure no loose material. Dub out the masonry if needed - fill holes and level off. Surface should be uniformly flat.

If the surface is smooth, consider applying a coat of breathable plaster primer to add a key and provide grip for the new plaster.

Mist or brush the masonry surface 10-15 mins prior to plastering to control suction as needed.

Recommended plaster application

  1. Mix Universal to approx. 8 litres of cool, clean water per 18kg bag of dry powder used.

  2. Mix the plaster using a paddle mix for at least 2 mins. Leave the mix to stand for 2 mins, then mix again for 1 min.

  3. Base coat/scratch coat of Universal up to 10mm.

  4. Additional coats up to 10mm thick, up to 20mm max per day. Up to 50mm max total thickness.

  5. Top coat approx. 2-4mm. Moisten top coat using a fine mist spray bottle to help trowel to a smooth finish.
