Breathaplasta Universal is ideal as a healthy skim coat applied directly to conventional gypsum plasterboard without the need for a primer. Universal is a fast-setting, multi-purpose, hemp lime plaster designed for rapid build-up onto a wide range of backgrounds.

Surface preparation

No treatment or priming is required before applying plaster to conventional gypsum plasterboard (ivory coloured paper).

Specialist plasterboard requires a primer (bonding agent) to be used before plastering. Examples include: moisture resistant (green), fire resistant (pink), and acoustic (blue).

Recommended plaster application

  1. Mix Universal to approx. 8 litres of cool, clean water per 18kg bag of dry powder used.

  2. Mix the plaster using a paddle mix for at least 2 mins. Leave the mix to stand for 2 mins, then mix again for 1 min.

  3. Base coat of Universal 2mm.

  4. Top coat of Universal 2mm. Moisten top coat using a fine mist spray bottle to help trowel to a smooth finish.
